In this area, the group’s research efforts are focussed on applying information and communication technologies to the health sector, with the aim of studying the possibilities offered by new technologies for improving quality of life and the coverage of services provided by public and private organisations to the general public and, specifically, to patients and health workers.
Work in e-Health involves developing Web applications based on broadband networks and includes high-quality video-conferencing, patient-monitoring, electronic clinical histories, electronic prescription, schedules, etc. Applications are also developed in wireless communications and mobile telephones to provide services for monitoring and locating patients, health personnel and medical equipment.
